Rotarian Cherie Melendez participates in ‘Read Across America’ at De Zavala Elementary
Rotarian Cherie Melendez took the time to read to students at De Zavala Elementary through the “Read Across America” program, sponsored locally by Communities in Schools.
“The second graders were well-behaved, attentive listeners while we read a Dr. Seuss book, ‘Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?’” Melendez said.
She encouraged each student to share reasons why they felt lucky, which included families, pets, school and teachers—and having someone come read to them.
"Mattress Mack" aka Jim McIngvale spoke to Baytown Rotarians Feb. 18 about his journey. His story is remarkable. Click here to read the story in The Baytown Sun.
